AW25 COLOUR GUIDE

As we are about to embark on an exciting AW25 season, Oldstrom has curated our very own colour guide inspired by WGSN x Coloro trend report for the season.

The report highlights themes of wellness, sustainability, creativity and technology as consumer drivers of these colours. Our AW25 collections seamlessly incorporate the key colour themes identified by WGSN, reflecting the latest trends in a vibrant and cohesive palette. Now, let’s dive into how each piece embodies these carefully curated hues, bringing fresh energy and style to your buying selection this season.

FUTURE DUSK

Pictured: 1. MeiMeiJ. 2. BITTE KAI RAND. 3. & 4. Dea Kudibal.

Individuality protrudes as a key theme for 2025. Creative and innovative, Future Dusk brings a dynamic newness to the plate for this season. This colour “aligns with themes of moving from darkness to light, dusk to dawn, preparing us for new horizons”. This dreamscape palette adds a elegant and rich touch to our collections this season.

CELESTIAL YELLOW

With a new year presenting itself as a year full of optimism, it makes sense that our next key colour is celestial yellow. Proposing a glow of positive harmony, “it is reminiscent of the moon, the stars and the sun, and connects with the search for reassurance and guidance as people look to spirituality, astrology and astronomy in times of uncertainty”. Celestial yellow is most striking in our crystal accents from Caroline Svedbom’s Dreamscape collection, bringing bright hopeful energy to the new season.

CHEERY LACQUER

A maturing of the cherry red trend sees cherry lacquer manifesting in AW25. This powerful pantone has a more luxurious appeal with “a seductive quality that taps into our deepest desires, taboos and pleasures as a form of radical escapism and self-empowerment”. We’re irresistibly drawn to the rich allure of cherry lacquer, an undeniably captivating shade that adds depth and vibrancy to every piece in our collections.

TRANSFORMATIVE TEAL

Ending off with a colour that taps into the comfort of nostalgia. This teal blue evokes feelings of warmth and sentimentality, “it has an undercurrent of soft joy and innocence brought on by memories, aligning with the rise of kindults and nostalgic sentiments reimagined among Gen Z”. It is clear that this retro blue is emerging as a captivating standout in our AW25 collections, commanding attention with its bold and timeless allure.

GUIDE TO COPENHAGEN

2025 - the year of newness! As the AW25 season approaches, Copenhagen presents itself as an attractive hub for new opportunities. On that note, Oldstrom has created a fresh guide to Copenhagen from where to stay to where to eat - this is a must save post.

BAKERIES ON BAKERIES

Denmark is infamous for its first-class patisseries, and a trip to Copenhagen would not be complete without testing out their universally-loved sweet treats. The Creative Director of one of Copenhagen’s most renowned bakeries, Hart Bageri, says that; “There’s a deep connection between culture and food, especially baked goods in Denmark, and it’s a country that empowers you to enjoy a conversation with a colleague, friend or family member over a shared treat”. Here are our top bakeries you need to try:

EATS

Sticking to the theme of food, our next category is where to eat! Copenhagen is the Nordic city with the most Michelin star restaurants and has an up and coming street food scene. Not to mention the Danes are known for having some of the highest quality fresh fish and organic produce, making Copenhagen the ultimate foodie Mecca. From open-sandwiches to high dining - this is where we recommend:

WHERE TO STAY

We all know fashion never sleeps (but we do) and after the chaos of Copenhagen you need a place to rest your head. Oldstrom has tried and tested these boutique hotels and we can confirm that you will be in good hands. Explore places to stay:

FIKA:

In typical Scandi style, we had to include the best coffee spots to take a moment for Fika. Fika is a traditional cultural practice originating from Sweden that means to take a moment to appreciate life, check in with friends and family, typically with a coffee in hand. Copenhagen has a variety of first class breweries across the city, it was tough but we managed to narrow down coffee shops that are worth a visit:

Please do let us know if you try any of our recommendations. Happy buying!

2024 WRAPPED

Here we are again - it’s that time of year when we start thinking about the new year and the exciting plans awaiting us in 2025. But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s take a moment to reminisce and appreciate the incredible milestones that 2024 brought us. So, without further ado, here is Oldstrom’s 2024 recap!

THE YEAR OF NEWNESS:

In response to the competitive nature of the fashion industry, we diversified our portfolio to bring a unique point of differentiation and fresh energy to the agency. This year we welcomed Edblad, Glas, Vivere and Isabelle Blanche to our lineup. Watching these individual brands grow over the past year has been so rewarding. Their distinct aesthetics have infused a sense of innovation and provided a competitive edge in the marketplace.

POSITIVE MARKET REACTIONS:

There’s no denying that 2024 was a year of uncertainty across the fashion landscape. The economic, environmental and socio-cultural instabilities created a volatile market. Despite this, we’re proud to share the outstanding reception to MeiMeiJ’s debut season in stores! Our contemporary Italian brand thrived in the UK market, with the SS24 collection receiving exceptional commercial success.

SUCCESSFUL SCOOPS:

No year-end recap would be complete without a nod to our seasonal appearances at Scoop. The trade show provided an invaluable platform to showcase our brands, strengthen relationships with our community, and connect with exciting new prospects. A standout moment this year was when Valérie Khalfon stole the show during the SS25 Scoop season, earning widespread acclaim. Seeing our clients resonate with our brands as much as we do is always a deeply fulfilling achievement.

OLDSTROM GOES TO IRELAND:

This year we hosted our very first-ever showroom popup in Ireland! The team had a hugely productive trip, meeting with our Irish clients on their home turf and showcasing some of our exclusive collections. We also conducted in-store visual merchandising training for local retailers, further strengthening our relationships. The trip was a resounding success, and it’s always a pleasure connecting with our Oldstrom community across the pond.

PROUD PRESS DAYS:

Amid our busy wholesale seasons, we hosted two buzzing Press Days at our Shoreditch showroom. Welcoming members of the press, stylists and influencers, we offered an exclusive preview of our upcoming collections. These events are always a highlight, allowing us to connect in person with the wider Oldstrom network and continue growing our community!  The turnout of both events were a hit, with a combined reach of 5.6 million - a result we are incredibly proud of!

WINNER WINNER:

This one may be our proudest moment of the year: Edblad was nominated as Best New Jewellery Brand of the Year, and Oldstrom itself was nominated for best agency of the year at the Boutique Magazine Star Awards. We could not be more delighted with the outcome as we walked away with not one, but two wins! Ending the year on such a high note has been deeply gratifying, and we’re endlessly grateful for the unwavering support of our community.

Here’s to a fruitful 2024 and cheers to a prosperous 2025!

A TRIP TO MILAN

Caroline and Julie got to preview the Mei MeiJ Pre-spring 25 collection during a flying, 24-hour trip to Milan. They also managed to fit in a little sight-seeing and of course, stopped long enough to sit and enjoy some pizza and Aperol Spritz.

A SCOTTISH ROAD TRIP

A 20TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION!

THE AW24 - END OF SEASON ROUND-UP

The start of 2024 was a super busy period for the Oldstrom team - Another successful selling season of showroom appointments, trade shows, brand visits and road trips. But now we have had a moment to rest and reflect on everything we have achieved, we wanted to highlight some of the most exciting events of the last few months.

Take a look at what we have been up to recently over on our socials and in the highlights below.

LAUNCHING GLAS EYEWEAR AT TOP DRAWER

Back in January, we attended our first trade show of the year, launching a very exciting new brand as part of the Oldstrom portfolio - the premium eyewear brand GLAS Eyewear. We also took our popular Swedish jewellery brand Caroline Svedbom to the show and showcased their beautiful Spring and Summer collections. This was a great way for us to jump into the new selling season with momentum and introduce the new GLAS brand to UK customers.

MEETING BITTE AND MICHAEL KAI RAND

At the beginning of the year, Julie and Freya travelled to Copenhagen for the AW24 kick-off meeting with Bitte Kai Rand. On this trip, they got the chance to meet the founders- Bitte and Michael, (Who we have to say are the loveliest people ever) as well as preview the new collection at the brand’s head office. A very fun and insightful trip overall and they can’t wait to visit again for the SS25 kick-off.

SCOOP TRADESHOW - AW24 EDITION

In February, we were back at Scoop, showing off all of the amazing new collections from our brands: Caroline Svedbom, BRGN, Bitte Kai Rand and Sand Copenhagen. We also took this opportunity to launch Edblad Jewellery to our customers and new potential buyers. The Swedish jewellery brand was a massive hit, with everyone loving the chunky, trendy, statement style of jewellery that Edblad is known for. (We love being able to offer customers new, unique and exciting product offerings!)

ROAD-TRIPPING AROUND IRELAND

At the beginning of April, Julia and Freya took Oldstrom on the road, visiting 36 stores in various towns all around Ireland. From Dublin to Kilkenny to Cork to Galway, the girls visited key existing stockists like Ellen B, Venezuela, Gallery 9 and Macbees, as well as introduced themselves to new, potential buyers and stores.

Key takeaways from the trip and all of the lovely chats they had along the way include a very positive reaction to the first season of Mei MeiJ, with stores experiencing great feedback on the brand and great initial sell-through. Another super positive product category for Ireland was accessories, with stores selling current brands very well and looking to introduce new names like Edblad and GLAS Eyewear to the mix.

Dea Kudibal - Taking care of your premium silk

Designed and created by the designer herself, Dea Kudibal stretched her creative flair from a young age, being brought up by a family of artists. In 2003 the brand started by selling beautiful silk scarves and quickly developed into a beautiful clothing line. The signature stretch silk quality, combined with ethnic prints and handmade details makes this brand a must-have!

Screenshot 2021-05-11 at 14.54.22.png

The stretch silk quality has become a signature for Dea Kudibal and while most silk is recommended to be dry clean only, Dea Kudibal’s luxury and high quality, along with the great durability has made the stretch silk super easily maintainable, you can simply machine wash all Dea Kudibal Silks! If you choose to machine wash then do so on a slow silk setting at a maximum of 30 degrees, always best to wash with cold water!

Screenshot 2021-05-11 at 14.56.00.png

However, if you choose to hand wash the pure stretch silk do so at a maximum of 40 degrees to not damage the silk. When doing so always make sure there is no bleach in the detergents and that it is suitable for silk fabrics. It is very important to make sure that you turn your silk inside out and do not scrub or stretch the silk while wet, this can result in the silk stretching and losing its shape. Instead of scrubbing to get the stains out we say leave the garment in the water to soak for up to 30 minutes, this is plenty of time to release all dirt and oils from the fabric.

Screenshot 2021-05-11 at 15.00.57.png

Wet silk is super fragile and will stretch if hung on a hanger so to dry the silk garments best to lay them flat and air dry. If you wish to speed up the drying process lay the silk garment flat in between 2 cotton towels this way they will help absorb the moisture from the silk.

Screenshot 2021-05-11 at 15.05.42.png

Once dry, do not iron the silk, the heat will damage the soft fabric fibers. The high quality of the Dea Kudibal silk means you shouldn’t need to iron the garment however If there are some stubborn wrinkles you wish to remove then steaming slowly in a downwards motion will relax the silk fibers and even out any wrinkles, soon as that is done your Dea Kudibal silk garments will be looking fresh and new ready!
